Mañjuśrī Vyākaraṇa Sūtra 文殊師利授記
Translated from the Chinese by M. C. Owens 歐文譯 LOTUS UNDERGROUND
For the benefit of all sentient beings 為了所有眾生的利
Introduction
This translation was made from the Chinese translation of Śikṣānanda found in the Mahāratnakūṭa Sūtra, Taishō shinshū daizōkyō, vol 11, no. 310, sutra 15. The Chinese title points to the receiving of the ‘prediction of enlightenment’ (vyākaraṇa) of the bodhisattva Mañjuśrī, who amazingly makes it of himself in a previous life. This sutra is also known as the “The Array of Virtues of Mañjuśrī’s Buddha Field” (Mañjuśrībuddhakṣetraguṇavyūha Sūtra), based upon the title of the Tibetan translation.
