雜阿含經(一二〇〇)
（一二〇〇）
如是我聞：
Thus have I heard:
一時，佛住舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。
At one time, the Buddha was staying in Śrāvastī at Jeta's Grove, in Anāthapiṇḍika's park.
時，有[9]吉離舍瞿曇彌比丘尼，住舍衛國王園精舍比丘尼眾中，晨朝著衣持鉢，至舍衛城乞食。食已，還精舍，舉衣鉢，洗足畢，持尼師壇，著肩上，入安陀林，於一樹下結跏趺坐，入晝正受。
At that time, there was a bhikkhuni named Kisāgotamī dwelling among the community of bhikkhunis in the King's Garden in Śrāvastī. In the morning, she put on her robes and took her alms bowl to enter Śrāvastī for alms. After her meal, she returned to the monastery, put away her robe and bowl, washed her feet, then took her sitting cloth, placed it over her shoulder, entered the Andha Grove, sat cross-legged under a tree, and entered into midday meditation.
時，魔波旬作是念：「今沙門瞿曇住舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。時，吉離舍瞿曇彌比丘尼住舍衛國王園精舍比丘尼眾中，晨朝著衣持鉢，入舍衛城乞食。食已，還精舍，舉衣鉢，洗足畢，持尼師壇，著肩上，入安陀林，於一樹下結跏趺坐，入晝正受。我今當往，為作留難。」即化作年少，容貌端正，往至吉離舍瞿曇彌比丘尼所，而說偈言：
At that time, Māra Pāpīya thought: "Today the ascetic Gotama is staying in Śrāvastī at Jeta's Grove, in Anāthapiṇḍika's park. The bhikkhuni Kisāgotamī is dwelling among the community of bhikkhunis in the King's Garden in Śrāvastī. In the morning, she put on her robes and took her alms bowl to enter Śrāvastī for alms. After her meal, she returned to the monastery, put away her robe and bowl, washed her feet, then took her sitting cloth, placed it over her shoulder, entered the Andha Grove, sat cross-legged under a tree, and entered into midday meditation. I should go there now to create an obstacle for her." He then transformed himself into a handsome young man, went to where the bhikkhuni Kisāgotamī was, and spoke these verses:
汝何喪其子， 涕泣憂愁貌， 獨坐於樹下， 何求於男子？」
Why have you lost your child, With a tearful and sorrowful face? Sitting alone under a tree, Are you seeking a man?
時，吉離舍瞿曇彌比丘尼作是念：「為誰恐怖我？為人？為非人？為姦狡者？」如是思惟，生決定智：「惡魔波旬來嬈我耳。」即說偈言：
At that time, the bhikkhuni Kisāgotamī thought to herself: "Who is this trying to frighten me? Is it a human? A non-human? A deceitful person?" After thinking this, she realized with certainty: "This is the evil Māra Pāpīya trying to disturb me." Then she spoke these verses:
無邊際諸子， 一切皆亡失， 此則男子邊， 已度男子表。
Countless children, All have been lost. This is the end of men, I have gone beyond the realm of men.
不惱不憂愁， 佛教作已作， 一切離愛苦， 捨一切闇冥。
Not troubled, not sorrowful, The Buddha's teaching has been accomplished. All attachment and suffering have been left behind, All darkness has been abandoned.
已滅盡作證， 安隱盡諸漏， 已知汝弊魔， 於此自滅去。」
I have realized complete extinction, Abiding in peace with all defilements destroyed. I know you, wicked Māra, Vanish from here of your own accord.
時，魔波旬作是念：「吉離舍瞿曇彌比丘尼已知我心。」愁憂苦惱，即沒不現。
At that time, Māra Pāpīya thought: "The bhikkhuni Kisāgotamī has seen through my intentions." Sorrowful and distressed, he immediately vanished from sight.
