虛空行天授記品第十二
Chapter Twelve: The Space-Dwelling Devas’ Prediction of Enlightenment
爾時復有八萬虛空行天，見阿修羅、伽樓羅及龍女、龍王、鳩槃茶、乾闥婆、夜叉、緊那羅等，供養如來并聞授記，皆大欣喜踊躍無量，於佛法中深心愛樂。為供養佛故，起勇猛心。彼虛空行天，於迦毘羅城外周遍八方六十由旬，雨曼陀羅花，遍布其地至於人膝。雨曼陀羅花遍布地已，持供養佛，遶佛三匝，即以偈頌而讚佛言：
At that time, there were also 80,000 space-dwelling devas who saw the asuras, garudas, naga women, naga kings, kumbhandas, gandharvas, yakshas, kinnaras and others making offerings to the Tathagata and hearing their predictions. They were all filled with immense joy and delight, and developed deep love and devotion for the Buddha's Dharma. In order to make offerings to the Buddha, they aroused courageous minds. Those space-dwelling devas, in the eight directions for sixty yojanas outside the city of Kapilavastu, rained down mandara flowers, covering the ground up to people's knees. After covering the ground with mandara flowers, they made offerings to the Buddha, circumambulated him three times, and then praised the Buddha with these verses:
諸根寂靜微笑面， 救護一切諸眾生， 善逝具足大慈悲， 故為世尊人師子。
With serene senses and a smiling face, You protect all sentient beings. Well-Gone One, endowed with great compassion, Thus you are the World-Honored One, the Lion among Men.
如來大眾皆安住， 於佛法中及涅槃， 導師世尊勝妙足， 我今頭面而頂禮。
The great assembly of the Tathagata all abide In the Buddha's Dharma and in Nirvana. Guide and World-Honored One with excellent feet, I now bow my head in reverence.
如十五日月盛滿， 世人皆禮星中月， 如是一切諸天眾， 覩佛笑面咸敬禮。
Like the full moon on the fifteenth day, People of the world all worship the moon among stars. Likewise, all the hosts of devas, Seeing the Buddha's smiling face, pay homage with respect.
積集無量大福聚， 亦復成就智慧身， 具足無量大威德， 故我頂禮世間親。
Accumulating immeasurable great merit, And also perfecting the body of wisdom, Endowed with immeasurable great majesty, Thus I bow to the Friend of the World.
具足十力功德山， 於諦無畏離三垢， 成就十八不共法， 明見無疑說中勝。
Perfected in the ten powers, a mountain of virtues, Fearless in truth, free from the three defilements, Accomplished in the eighteen unique qualities, Clearly seeing without doubt, supreme among speakers.
具足三十二種相， 八十種好而自嚴， 其心勝上如帝幢， 故我頂禮無等等。
Endowed with the thirty-two auspicious characteristics, And adorned with the eighty excellent signs, His mind supreme like the banner of Indra, Thus I bow to the Unequaled One.
已能究竟持戒力， 禪力決定不傾動， 執持最上智慧劍， 最勝勇健降天魔。
Having perfected the power of maintaining precepts, With meditation power firm and unwavering, Wielding the supreme sword of wisdom, Most victorious and brave in conquering divine Māras.
於智慧力到彼岸， 調御聲聞心無悋， 其心寂靜遊諸方， 度脫一切諸天人。
In the power of wisdom, reaching the other shore, Taming disciples with an unsparing heart, His mind serene, traveling in all directions, Liberating all devas and humans.
世尊人中勝師子， 得於最上寂滅法， 惟然十力願我等， 亦當得此勝妙法。
World-Honored One, supreme lion among men, Having attained the highest state of cessation, May we, through the ten powers, Also attain this excellent Dharma.
願我亦當天人中， 為諸世間所信樂， 願如世尊等無異， 了知眾生心樂欲。
May I also, among devas and humans, Be trusted and loved by all in the world. May I be equal to the World-Honored One, Understanding the minds and desires of all beings.
願我得利諸世間， 以憐愍心大悲心， 墮生死海苦眾生， 願我皆能得度脫。
May I benefit all worlds, With a compassionate heart and great mercy. For beings drowning in the sea of birth and death, May I be able to liberate them all.
願我於諸天人中， 得作無上大導師， 我當解脫諸有趣， 為百苦逼諸眾生。」
May I, among devas and humans, Become the unsurpassed great guide. I shall liberate beings from all realms of existence, For those afflicted by hundreds of sufferings.
爾時世尊知虛空行天深心信樂已，即便微笑。時馬勝比丘即以偈頌而問佛言：
At that time, the World-Honored One, knowing the deep faith and joy of the space-dwelling devas, smiled. Then the Venerable Aśvajit asked the Buddha in verse:
佛牟尼王非無緣， 三界照明現微笑， 唯願十力為我說， 為何眾生現喜相？
Buddha, King of Munis, does not smile without reason, The Illuminator of the Three Realms displays a smile. I pray the Ten-Powered One to tell me, For which beings does he show this joyful sign?
見佛如來最勝面， 現微笑相令眾喜， 一切大眾皆懷疑， 願聞佛說笑因緣。
Seeing the supreme face of the Tathāgata Buddha, Displaying a smile that delights the assembly, All in the great assembly are filled with doubt, We wish to hear the Buddha explain the reason for his smile.
願大導師速為說， 微笑因緣利益事， 願為除斷眾疑網， 沙門中王為宣說。
May the Great Guide swiftly explain, The beneficial reason for this smile, Please dispel the web of doubts for all, O King of Śramaṇas, please proclaim.
孰能令佛現喜笑？ 誰於佛所上供養？ 令誰能達生死底？ 願人師子除我疑。
Who can make the Buddha show a joyful smile? Who has made supreme offerings to the Buddha? Who will be able to reach the depths of birth and death? May the Lion of Men remove my doubts.
誰於今日動魔宮， 令魔狂亂心不安？ 誰於今日令天眾， 悉皆欣喜大踊躍？
Who today has shaken the palaces of Māra, Causing Māra to become confused and uneasy? Who today has made the hosts of devas All rejoice and leap with great joy?
唯願為我速宣說， 除斷一切世疑網， 大眾若得聞佛說， 一切皆悉大欣喜。」
I pray you swiftly proclaim for me, And cut off all the world's web of doubts. If the great assembly hears the Buddha's explanation, All will be filled with great joy."
爾時世尊即以偈頌答馬勝言：
At that time, the World-Honored One answered Aśvajit in verse:
馬勝汝今請問我， 虛空行天受記事， 汝今問我大利益， 無量世間諸人天。
Aśvajit, you now ask me About the prediction for the space-dwelling devas. Your question to me greatly benefits Countless beings in the world, devas and humans.
十力師子若無問， 不得為說佛子記， 汝於今日問如來， 廣利一切世間故。
If the Ten-Powered Lion were not asked, He would not give predictions to the Buddha's children. You ask the Tathāgata today For the benefit of all worldly beings.
是空行天於我所， 以欣喜心供養我， 過於阿僧祇劫數， 滅除煩惱得成佛。
These space-dwelling devas, in my presence, With joyful hearts make offerings to me. After countless eons, They will eliminate afflictions and become Buddhas.
從於此間終沒已， 便即生於天勝處， 於無量億諸佛所， 悉知香花修供養。
After passing away from here, They will be reborn in celestial realms, And make offerings of incense and flowers To countless billions of Buddhas.
於彼佛所發道心， 亦復增進菩提意， 以諸無量勝妙偈， 讚人師子自然智。
They will arouse the aspiration for enlightenment at those Buddhas' places, And further advance their bodhicitta. With countless excellent verses, They will praise the self-realized wisdom of the Lion of Men.
此等當於未來世， 無量無邊諸佛所， 以勝香花而供養， 亦以妙偈而讚佛。
In future worlds, At the places of countless Buddhas, They will make offerings of supreme incense and flowers, And praise the Buddhas with wondrous verses.
那羅延身菩薩等， 供養讚歎諸佛已， 於當來世欣喜劫， 得成最勝無上智。
These bodhisattvas with bodies like Nārāyaṇa, After making offerings and praising all Buddhas, In a future joyful eon, Will attain supreme unsurpassed wisdom.
其佛號曰花幢尊， 名稱普聞無譏毀， 彼等八萬天神眾， 皆同一劫得作佛。
Their Buddha will be called Flower Banner Honored One, His name will be widely known without reproach. Those eighty thousand devas Will all become Buddhas in the same kalpa.
彼佛剎中無地獄， 亦無餓鬼及畜生， 彼土亦無修羅趣， 無有一切八難等。
In that Buddha's land there will be no hells, No hungry ghosts or animals, No realm of asuras, And none of the eight difficulties.
此空行天成佛時， 彼土一切諸人民， 彼諸眾生壽無量， 果報猶如忉利天。
When these space-dwelling devas become Buddhas, All the people in that land Will have immeasurable lifespans, With rewards like those in the Trāyastriṃśas Heaven.
其國不聞惡道名， 何況而有作惡者， 彼時眾生皆如法， 一切悉是調伏眾。
In that country, the names of evil destinies will not be heard, Much less will there be any evildoers. At that time, all beings will follow the Dharma, All will be well-disciplined assemblies.
彼佛度人無量億， 其數過於恒河沙， 為說無依無著法， 十力度脫彼眾生。
That Buddha will liberate countless billions of beings, Surpassing the number of sands in the Ganges. He will teach the Dharma of non-attachment, The Ten-Powered One will liberate those beings.
彼佛入般涅槃已， 廣布舍利起佛塔， 彼佛一一諸舍利， 於中皆現佛身相。
After that Buddha enters parinirvāṇa, His relics will be widely distributed and stupas built. In each of that Buddha's relics, The Buddha's form will appear.
名稱無毀諸身分， 為彼眾生示神變， 無量億數諸眾生， 皆發無上菩提心。」
His renowned and unblemished body parts Will display miracles for those beings. Countless billions of beings Will all arouse the aspiration for supreme bodhi."
導師如是智方便， 為彼空行天授記， 一切大眾聞記已， 皆悉欣喜大踊躍。
The Teacher, with such skillful means of wisdom, Gave predictions to those space-dwelling devas. All in the great assembly, hearing these predictions, Were filled with joy and great delight.
