摩訶般若波羅蜜不可思議品第十
爾時釋提桓因作是念:「若人得聞般若波羅蜜者,當知是人,已曾供養諸佛,何況受持讀誦,如所說學,如所說行。若人聞說深般若波羅蜜,受持讀誦,如所說行當知是人,已曾多供養佛,廣問其義,於過去諸佛,聞深般若波羅蜜,不驚不怖。」
At that time, Śakra-devānāmindra thought: "If a person gets to hear the Prajñāpāramitā, one should know that this person has already made offerings to the Buddhas in the past. How much more so for those who uphold, read, and recite it, study it as it is taught, and practice it as it is taught. If a person hears the profound Prajñāpāramitā being explained, upholds it, reads and recites it, and practices it as it is taught, one should know that this person has already made many offerings to the Buddhas in the past, extensively inquired about its meaning, and heard the profound Prajñāpāramitā from past Buddhas without being alarmed or frightened."
爾時舍利弗白佛言:「世尊!若菩薩摩訶薩,能信解深般若波羅蜜,當知是菩薩,如阿毘跋致。何以故?世尊!若人於過去世,不久行深般若波羅蜜,則不能信解。世尊!若有誹謗拒逆般若波羅蜜,當知是人,久已誹謗拒逆般若波羅蜜。何以故?是人於深般若波羅蜜無有信心,無清淨心,亦不問諸佛及諸佛弟子所疑。」
At that time, Śāriputra said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One! If a bodhisattva mahāsattva can have faith in and understand the profound Prajñāpāramitā, one should know that this bodhisattva is like one who is irreversible. Why? World-Honored One! If a person has not practiced the profound Prajñāpāramitā for a long time in past lives, they will not be able to have faith and understand. World-Honored One! If someone slanders and rejects the Prajñāpāramitā, one should know that this person has long been slandering and rejecting the Prajñāpāramitā. Why? This person has no faith in the profound Prajñāpāramitā, no pure mind, and does not inquire about their doubts to the Buddhas and the disciples of the Buddhas."
爾時釋提桓因語舍利弗:「是般若波羅蜜甚深。若不久行菩薩道,不能信解,有何可怪。若人敬禮般若波羅蜜,即是敬禮薩婆若智。」舍利弗言:「如是,如是!憍尸迦!若人敬禮般若波羅蜜,即是敬禮薩婆若智。從般若波羅蜜生諸佛薩婆若智,從薩婆若智還生般若波羅蜜。菩薩應如是住般若波羅蜜,應如是習般若波羅蜜。」
At that time, Śakra-devānāmindra said to Śāriputra: "This Prajñāpāramitā is very profound. If one has not practiced the bodhisattva path for a long time, they cannot have faith and understand it. What is there to be surprised about? If a person pays homage to the Prajñāpāramitā, it is the same as paying homage to sarvajñā wisdom."
Śāriputra said: "So it is, so it is! Kauśika! If a person pays homage to the Prajñāpāramitā, it is the same as paying homage to sarvajñā wisdom. From the Prajñāpāramitā arises the sarvajñā wisdom of all Buddhas, and from sarvajñā wisdom arises the Prajñāpāramitā again. Bodhisattvas should abide in the Prajñāpāramitā like this, and should practice the Prajñāpāramitā like this."
釋提桓因白佛言:「世尊!云何菩薩行般若波羅蜜,名為住般若波羅蜜,名為習般若波羅蜜?」佛告釋提桓因言:「善哉,善哉!憍尸迦!汝能問佛是義。汝所問者,皆是佛力。憍尸迦!若菩薩行般若波羅蜜,不住色。若不住色,即是習色,不住受、想、行、識。若不住識,即是習識。復次,憍尸迦!若菩薩不習色,若不習色,即不住色,不習受、想、行、識。若不習識,即不住識。如是,憍尸迦!是名菩薩習般若波羅蜜,住般若波羅蜜。」
Śakra-devānāmindra said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One! How does a bodhisattva practice Prajñāpāramitā, abide in Prajñāpāramitā, and cultivate Prajñāpāramitā?"
The Buddha told Śakra-devānāmindra: "Excellent, excellent! Kauśika! You are able to ask the Buddha about this meaning. What you ask is all due to the Buddha's power. Kauśika! When a bodhisattva practices Prajñāpāramitā, they do not abide in form. If they do not abide in form, this is cultivating form. They do not abide in sensation, perception, mental formations, or consciousness. If they do not abide in consciousness, this is cultivating consciousness. Furthermore, Kauśika! If a bodhisattva does not cultivate form, if they do not cultivate form, then they do not abide in form. They do not cultivate sensation, perception, mental formations, or consciousness. If they do not cultivate consciousness, then they do not abide in consciousness. Thus, Kauśika! This is called a bodhisattva cultivating Prajñāpāramitā and abiding in Prajñāpāramitā."
舍利弗白佛言:「世尊!般若波羅蜜甚深無量無底。」佛告舍利弗:「若菩薩摩訶薩不住色甚深,是為習色甚深;不住受、想、行、識甚深,是為習識甚深。復次,舍利弗!若菩薩摩訶薩不習色甚深,是為不住色甚深;不習受、想、行、識甚深,是為不住識甚深。」「世尊!深般若波羅蜜,應於阿毘跋致菩薩前說,是人聞是,不疑不悔。」
Śāriputra said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One! The Prajñāpāramitā is extremely profound, immeasurable, and bottomless."
The Buddha told Śāriputra: "If a bodhisattva mahāsattva does not abide in the profound nature of form, this is cultivating the profound nature of form; if they do not abide in the profound nature of sensation, perception, mental formations, or consciousness, this is cultivating the profound nature of consciousness. Furthermore, Śāriputra! If a bodhisattva mahāsattva does not cultivate the profound nature of form, this is not abiding in the profound nature of form; if they do not cultivate the profound nature of sensation, perception, mental formations, or consciousness, this is not abiding in the profound nature of consciousness."
"World-Honored One! The profound Prajñāpāramitā should be explained in front of avaivartika bodhisattvas. When such people hear this, they will not doubt or regret."
爾時釋提桓因語舍利弗:「若於未受記菩薩前說,當有何咎?」「憍尸迦!若未受記菩薩得聞深般若波羅蜜,當知是菩薩久發大乘心,近於受記,不久必得受記。若過一佛二佛,當得受阿耨多羅三藐三菩提記。」佛言:「如是,如是!舍利弗!若未受記菩薩得聞深般若波羅蜜,當知是菩薩久發大乘心。」
At that time, Śakra-devānāmindra said to Śāriputra: "If it is explained in front of bodhisattvas who have not yet received prediction, what fault would there be?"
"Kauśika! If bodhisattvas who have not yet received prediction hear the profound Prajñāpāramitā, one should know that these bodhisattvas have long ago generated the mind of the Great Vehicle, are close to receiving prediction, and will soon receive prediction. If they pass one or two Buddhas, they will receive the prediction of anuttara-samyak-sambodhi."
The Buddha said: "So it is, so it is! Śāriputra! If bodhisattvas who have not yet received prediction hear the profound Prajñāpāramitā, one should know that these bodhisattvas have long ago generated the mind of the Great Vehicle."
[0554b01] 舍利弗白佛言:「世尊!我今當說譬喻。」佛言:「樂說便說。」
Śāriputra said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One! I will now give a simile."
The Buddha said: "If you wish to speak, then speak."
「世尊!譬如求菩薩道者,夢坐道場,知是菩薩,當近阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。若求菩薩道者,得聞深般若波羅蜜,當知是菩薩,久發大乘心,善根成就,近於受記,不久必得受記。」佛言:「善哉,善哉!舍利弗!汝承佛神力,復更說之。」
"World-Honored One! It is like someone seeking the bodhisattva path who dreams of sitting at the site of enlightenment. One should know that this bodhisattva is close to anuttara-samyak-sambodhi. If one seeking the bodhisattva path hears the profound Prajñāpāramitā, one should know that this bodhisattva has long ago generated the mind of the Great Vehicle, has perfected good roots, is close to receiving prediction, and will soon receive prediction."
The Buddha said: "Excellent, excellent! Śāriputra! You speak through the Buddha's divine power. Please continue to speak."
「世尊!譬如有人欲過險道,若百由旬,若二百、若三百、若四百、若五百由旬,欲出難時,先見諸相。若見放牛羊者,若見疆界,若見園林。見如是相故,當知此中,必有城邑聚落。見是相已,作是念:『如我所見之相,城邑聚落,去此不遠。』其心安隱,不復畏有怨家賊害。世尊!菩薩亦如是。若得聞深般若波羅蜜,當知是菩薩近於受記,不久必得受記,爾時不畏墮聲聞、辟支佛地。何以故?是菩薩得是本相,所謂得見深般若波羅蜜,得聞深般若波羅蜜。
"World-Honored One! It is like a person who wants to cross a dangerous path, whether it's 100 yojanas, 200, 300, 400, or 500 yojanas. When they want to exit the difficult part, they first see various signs. They might see people herding cows and sheep, or see boundary markers, or see gardens and forests. Seeing such signs, they know that there must be a city or village nearby. Having seen these signs, they think: 'Based on the signs I've seen, a city or village is not far from here.' Their mind becomes at ease, and they no longer fear harm from enemies or thieves. World-Honored One! Bodhisattvas are also like this. If they get to hear the profound Prajñāpāramitā, one should know that these bodhisattvas are close to receiving prediction, and will soon receive prediction. At that time, they do not fear falling into the level of śrāvakas or pratyekabuddhas. Why? Because these bodhisattvas have obtained the original sign, namely, they have seen the profound Prajñāpāramitā and heard the profound Prajñāpāramitā."
「世尊!譬如有人欲見大海,稍稍前行,若見樹若樹相,若見山若山相,當知是中去海尚遠。若不見樹無樹相,不見山無山相,當知大海去是不遠,大海深故,無有山樹,是人雖不見海,知必近之。世尊!菩薩亦如是,得聞深般若波羅蜜,雖未於現在諸佛前受記,自知必近阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。何以故?我得見聞供養深般若波羅蜜故。
"World-Honored One! It is like a person who wants to see the great ocean and gradually moves forward. If they see trees or signs of trees, if they see mountains or signs of mountains, they should know that they are still far from the ocean. If they no longer see trees or signs of trees, no longer see mountains or signs of mountains, they should know that the great ocean is not far. Because the great ocean is deep, there are no mountains or trees. Although this person has not yet seen the ocean, they know they are certainly close to it. World-Honored One! Bodhisattvas are also like this. When they hear the profound Prajñāpāramitā, although they have not yet received prediction in front of the present Buddhas, they know for themselves that they are close to anuttara-samyak-sambodhi. Why? Because they have seen, heard, and made offerings to the profound Prajñāpāramitā."
「世尊!譬如春時,樹葉零落,當知此樹,華葉果實,將生不久。何以故?本相現故。閻浮提人見樹本相,皆悉歡喜,作是念:『是樹不久當生華葉果實。』世尊!菩薩亦如是。若得見聞深般若波羅蜜,當知是菩薩善根成就,宿世善根因緣故,今得深般若波羅蜜。會中曾有見佛,諸天皆大歡喜,作是念:『先諸菩薩,亦有如是受記本相,是菩薩不久當得受阿耨多羅三藐三菩提記。』
"World-Honored One! It is like in springtime when the tree leaves fall. One should know that this tree will soon produce flowers, leaves, and fruits. Why? Because the original signs are present. When people of Jambudvīpa see these original signs of the tree, they all rejoice and think: 'This tree will soon produce flowers, leaves, and fruits.' World-Honored One! Bodhisattvas are also like this. If they get to see and hear the profound Prajñāpāramitā, one should know that these bodhisattvas have perfected good roots. Due to the causes and conditions of good roots from past lives, they now attain the profound Prajñāpāramitā. Those in the assembly who have seen the Buddha, and all the devas greatly rejoice, thinking: 'The previous bodhisattvas also had such original signs of receiving prediction. This bodhisattva will soon receive the prediction of anuttara-samyak-sambodhi.'"
「世尊!譬如女人懷妊,轉轉不便,身體疲極,不樂事務,眠臥不安,食飲轉少,苦惱在身,不欲語言,厭本所習,不復憶樂,本相現故,當知是女,將產不久。菩薩善根成就,亦復如是。若得見聞,思惟深般若波羅蜜,當知是菩薩,不久得受阿耨多羅三藐三菩提記。」
"World-Honored One! It is like a pregnant woman who gradually becomes uncomfortable, her body extremely tired, not enjoying her affairs, unable to sleep well, eating and drinking less, suffering in her body, not wanting to speak, tired of her usual habits, no longer remembering pleasure. Because the original signs are present, one should know that this woman will give birth soon. A bodhisattva who has perfected good roots is also like this. If they get to see, hear, and contemplate the profound Prajñāpāramitā, one should know that this bodhisattva will soon receive the prediction of anuttara-samyak-sambodhi."
佛言:「善哉,善哉!舍利弗!汝所樂說者,皆佛神力。」
The Buddha said: "Excellent, excellent! Śāriputra! What you have spoken is all due to the Buddha's divine power."
爾時須菩提白佛言:「希有,世尊!如來善說諸菩薩事。」「須菩提!是諸菩薩摩訶薩,長夜多所利益,多所安隱,多所安樂,憐愍世間,得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提,為諸天人,演說法要。」
At that time, Subhūti said to the Buddha: "How extraordinary, World-Honored One! The Tathāgata has well explained the matters of the bodhisattvas."
"Subhūti! These bodhisattva mahāsattvas, for a long time, have benefited many, brought peace to many, brought happiness to many, have compassion for the world, attain anuttara-samyak-sambodhi, and expound the essential Dharma for devas and humans."
須菩提白佛言:「世尊!菩薩摩訶薩云何得具足修習,行般若波羅蜜?」「須菩提!若菩薩摩訶薩行般若波羅蜜,不見色增,是為行般若波羅蜜;不見受、想、行、識增,是為行般若波羅蜜;不見色減,是為行般若波羅蜜;不見受、想、行、識減,是為行般若波羅蜜。乃至不見法,不見非法,是為行般若波羅蜜。」
Subhūti said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One! How can a bodhisattva mahāsattva fully cultivate and practice the Prajñāpāramitā?"
"Subhūti! When a bodhisattva mahāsattva practices the Prajñāpāramitā, they do not see form increasing - this is practicing the Prajñāpāramitā; they do not see sensation, perception, conditioning, or consciousness increasing - this is practicing the Prajñāpāramitā; they do not see form decreasing - this is practicing the Prajñāpāramitā; they do not see sensation, perception, conditioning, or consciousness decreasing - this is practicing the Prajñāpāramitā. Up to not seeing dharmas, not seeing non-dharmas - this is practicing the Prajñāpāramitā."
「世尊!如佛所說不可思議。」「須菩提!色不可思議,受、想、行、識不可思議。若菩薩不分別色,不可思議;不分別受、想、行、識,不可思議。是為行般若波羅蜜。」
"World-Honored One! As the Buddha has said, it is inconceivable."
"Subhūti! Form is inconceivable, sensation, perception, mental formations, and consciousness are inconceivable. If a bodhisattva does not discriminate form, it is inconceivable; if they do not discriminate sensation, perception, mental formations, and consciousness, it is inconceivable. This is practicing the Prajñāpāramitā."
「世尊!般若波羅蜜如是,誰能信解?」「須菩提!若久行菩薩道者。」「世尊!云何菩薩得名久行?」「須菩提!若菩薩行般若波羅蜜,不分別佛十力、四無所畏,乃至不分別薩婆若,是名久行。何以故?佛十力不可思議,四無所畏、十八不共法不可思議,乃至薩婆若不可思議。色不可思議,受、想、行、識不可思議,一切法亦不可思議。菩薩如是行者,是名無處所行,而行般若波羅蜜,是故名為久行。」「世尊!般若波羅蜜甚深,般若波羅蜜是珍寶聚,如虛空清淨希有。世尊!般若波羅蜜多起留難,若欲書寫者,乃至一歲,當疾書成。」佛言:「如是,如是!須菩提!若善男子、善女人,欲書寫讀誦,如所說行般若波羅蜜,乃至一歲,當疾疾為之。須菩提!珍寶法,多有怨賊。」「世尊!般若波羅蜜惡魔常欲伺求斷絕。」「須菩提!惡魔雖欲伺求斷絕,亦不能得。」
"World-Honored One! Who can have faith in and understand the Prajñāpāramitā like this?"
"Subhūti! Those who have long practiced the bodhisattva path."
"World-Honored One! How does a bodhisattva come to be called one who has practiced for a long time?"
"Subhūti! If a bodhisattva practices the Prajñāpāramitā without discriminating the Buddha's ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, up to not discriminating sarvajñā, this is called practicing for a long time. Why? Because the Buddha's ten powers are inconceivable, the four fearlessnesses and eighteen unique qualities are inconceivable, up to sarvajñā being inconceivable. Form is inconceivable, sensation, perception, conditioning, and consciousness are inconceivable, all dharmas are also inconceivable. A bodhisattva who practices like this is said to practice without abiding anywhere, yet practices the Prajñāpāramitā, and is therefore called one who has practiced for a long time."
"World-Honored One! The Prajñāpāramitā is extremely profound. The Prajñāpāramitā is a collection of precious jewels, rare and pure like space. World-Honored One! The Prajñāpāramitā often encounters obstacles. If one wishes to write it down, even for a year, they should do so quickly."
The Buddha said: "So it is, so it is! Subhūti! If good men and good women wish to write, read, and recite the Prajñāpāramitā, practicing it as explained, even for a year, they should do so very quickly. Subhūti! The Dharma of precious jewels has many enemies."
"World-Honored One! Evil Māras constantly seek to interrupt the Prajñāpāramitā."
"Subhūti! Although evil Māras seek to interrupt it, they are unable to do so."
舍利弗白佛言:「世尊!誰神力故,惡魔不能留難般若波羅蜜?」「舍利弗!佛神力故,惡魔不能留難。舍利弗!亦是十方無量世界,現在諸佛神力故,惡魔不能留難,諸佛皆共護念是菩薩故,惡魔不能得便。何以故?舍利弗!菩薩為諸佛所護者法,應無有留難。何以故?舍利弗!若人書寫讀誦說般若波羅蜜,十方無量阿僧祇,現在諸佛,法應護念。若有誦般若波羅蜜,當知是菩薩佛護念故,能誦通利。」
Śāriputra said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One! By whose divine power are evil Māras unable to obstruct the Prajñāpāramitā?"
"Śāriputra! It is due to the Buddha's divine power that evil Māras are unable to obstruct. Śāriputra! It is also due to the divine power of the present Buddhas in the immeasurable worlds of the ten directions that evil Māras are unable to obstruct. Because all Buddhas collectively protect and think of these bodhisattvas, evil Māras cannot take advantage. Why? Śāriputra! The Dharma that protects bodhisattvas by all Buddhas should be without obstruction. Why? Śāriputra! If a person writes, reads, recites, or explains the Prajñāpāramitā, the immeasurable, incalculable present Buddhas in the ten directions should, according to the Dharma, protect and think of them. If someone recites the Prajñāpāramitā, one should know that it is because the Buddha protects and thinks of this bodhisattva that they are able to recite it fluently."
「世尊!善男子、善女人能受持讀誦般若波羅蜜,當知是人,佛眼所見。」「舍利弗!若善男子、善女人能受持讀誦般若波羅蜜,乃至書寫,當知是人,佛眼所見。舍利弗!若求佛道善男子、善女人,受持讀誦般若波羅蜜,則近阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。乃至自書,若使人書。書已,受持讀誦。以是因緣,其福甚多。舍利弗!如來滅後,般若波羅蜜當流布南方,從南方流布西方,從西方流布北方。舍利弗!我法盛時,無有滅相。北方若有乃至書寫受持供養般若波羅蜜者,是人亦為佛眼所見,所知所念。」
"World-Honored One! Good men and good women who can uphold and recite the Prajñāpāramitā should be known as those seen by the Buddha's eye."
"Śāriputra! If good men and good women can uphold and recite the Prajñāpāramitā, even to the point of writing it down, know that these people are seen by the Buddha's eye. Śāriputra! If good men and good women seeking the Buddha's path uphold and recite the Prajñāpāramitā, they are close to anuttara-samyak-sambodhi. Even if they write it themselves or have others write it, and after writing it, uphold and recite it, for these reasons, their merit is very great. Śāriputra! After the Tathāgata's extinction, the Prajñāpāramitā will spread to the south, from the south it will spread to the west, from the west it will spread to the north. Śāriputra! When my Dharma is flourishing, there will be no signs of extinction. If there are those in the north who even write, uphold, and make offerings to the Prajñāpāramitā, these people are also seen, known, and remembered by the Buddha's eye."
舍利弗白佛言:「世尊!後五百歲時,般若波羅蜜當廣流布北方耶?」「舍利弗!後五百歲,當廣流布北方。其中善男子、善女人,聞般若波羅蜜,受持讀誦修習,當知久發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心。」
Śāriputra said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One! After five hundred years, will the Prajñāpāramitā be widely spread in the northern region?"
"Śāriputra! After five hundred years, it will be widely spread in the northern region. The good men and good women there who hear the Prajñāpāramitā and uphold, read, recite, and cultivate it should be known to have long ago generated anuttara-samyak-sambodhi citta."
「世尊!北方當有幾所菩薩能受持讀誦修習般若波羅蜜?」「舍利弗!北方雖多有菩薩,能讀聽受般若波羅蜜,少能誦利修習行者。是人得聞,亦不驚不怖。是人曾已見佛,諮請問難。當知是人,為能具足行菩薩道,為阿耨多羅三藐三菩提故,能利益無量眾生。何以故?舍利弗!我為是善男子、善女人,說應薩婆若法,是人轉身,亦復樂說阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。一心和同,乃至魔王不能壞其阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心。是人聞般若波羅蜜,心大歡喜,心得清淨,令多眾生,種阿耨多羅三藐三菩提善根。是善男子、善女人,於我前作是言:『我等行菩薩道,常當以法,示教利喜無量百千萬眾生,令住阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。』舍利弗!我觀其心,則生隨喜,是人行菩薩道,當以法示教利喜無量百千萬眾生,令住阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。如是善男子、善女人,心樂大乘,願生他方現在佛前說法之處。於彼,續復廣聞,說般若波羅蜜。於彼佛土,亦復以法示教利喜無量百千萬眾生,令住阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。」
"World-Honored One! How many bodhisattvas in the northern region will be able to uphold, read, recite, and cultivate the Prajñāpāramitā?"
"Śāriputra! Although there are many bodhisattvas in the northern region who can read and listen to the Prajñāpāramitā, few can recite it fluently and practice it. Those who hear it are neither alarmed nor frightened. These people have already seen the Buddha and have consulted and questioned him. One should know that these people are able to fully practice the bodhisattva path and, for the sake of anuttara-samyak-sambodhi, can benefit countless beings. Why? Śāriputra! For these good men and women, I have taught the dharma of sarvajñā (all-knowing wisdom). When these people are reborn, they will also take pleasure in expounding anuttara-samyak-sambodhi. They are of one mind and in harmony, so that even the King of Māras cannot destroy their anuttara-samyak-sambodhi mind. When these people hear the Prajñāpāramitā, their hearts are filled with great joy, their minds become pure, and they cause many beings to plant the roots of goodness for anuttara-samyak-sambodhi. These good men and women say before me: 'We practice the bodhisattva path and will always use the Dharma to instruct, teach, benefit, and bring joy to countless hundreds of thousands of millions of beings, causing them to abide in anuttara-samyak-sambodhi.' Śāriputra! Observing their minds, I feel sympathetic joy. These people practicing the bodhisattva path will use the Dharma to instruct, teach, benefit, and bring joy to countless hundreds of thousands of millions of beings, causing them to abide in anuttara-samyak-sambodhi. Such good men and women, delighting in the Great Vehicle, wish to be reborn in other lands where Buddhas are currently teaching the Dharma. There, they will continue to hear and expound the Prajñāpāramitā extensively. In those buddha lands, they will also use the Dharma to instruct, teach, benefit, and bring joy to countless hundreds of thousands of millions of beings, causing them to abide in anuttara-samyak-sambodhi."
舍利弗白佛言:「希有,世尊!如來於過去、未來、現在諸法,無法不知,無法不識。如來於未來世諸菩薩,以多欲多精進,勤求般若波羅蜜。是善男子、善女人,有求而得,有不求而得,如來悉知。」「舍利弗!多有善男子、善女人,精進不懈故,般若波羅蜜不求而得。」
Śāriputra said to the Buddha: "How extraordinary, World-Honored One! The Tathāgata knows and recognizes all dharmas of the past, future, and present, without exception. The Tathāgata knows all about the future bodhisattvas who, with great desire and great diligence, will earnestly seek the Prajñāpāramitā. Some of these good men and good women will attain it through seeking, while others will attain it without seeking. The Tathāgata knows all of this."
"Śāriputra! Many good men and good women, due to their unceasing diligence, will attain the Prajñāpāramitā without seeking it."
「世尊!是善男子、善女人,餘經應六波羅蜜者,亦不求而得耶?」「舍利弗!若有餘應諸波羅蜜深經,是善男子、善女人,亦不求而得。何以故?舍利弗!法應爾。若有菩薩為諸眾生,示教利喜阿耨多羅三藐三菩提,亦自於中學,是人轉身,應諸波羅蜜深經,亦不求而得。」◎
"World-Honored One! Will these good men and good women also attain other sutras related to the six pāramitās without seeking them?"
"Śāriputra! If there are other profound sutras related to the pāramitās, these good men and good women will also attain them without seeking. Why? Śāriputra! This is how the Dharma works. If there are bodhisattvas who instruct, teach, benefit, and bring joy to sentient beings regarding anuttara-samyak-sambodhi, and also study it themselves, when these people are reborn, they will attain profound sutras related to the pāramitās without seeking them."
