The Buddha said to Ānanda, "Why does the Tathāgata, the Truly and Perfectly Enlightened One, praise the meaning of the bodhisattvas' Eightfold Equality? In this, bodhisattvas distance themselves from the eight wrong views, attain the door of liberation without attachment.
"Not depending on the Eightfold Path, transcending ordinary people's dharmas, establishing the meaning of the path, attaining the middle correctness, surpassing the mundane, wishing to establish path-wisdom, not seeing the attainment of a path, exiting wrong tracks, constantly abiding in right view, attaining the footprints of equality. Departing from the greedy body, wishing to abide in the meaning of the path, attaining the Buddha-body. Eliminating and transcending the conception of persons, constantly contemplating the Buddha's teachings, having an equal mind toward all.
"Distancing from attachment to sentient beings, constantly dwelling without dependency, with all dharmas completely cut off. Why is this so? Dharma cannot be attained, the power revered by the body; departing from worldly ties, longing for world-transcending scriptures; attaining the stabilized dharmadhātu. Not attaining the Dharma of the path, yet not departing from the mundane, explaining the meaning of existence and non-existence, cultivating evenness. Abandoning and cutting off attachment-conceptions, with no distinction in mind between past, present, and future, not attaining the mind of the path. Why is this so? Equalizing aspiration toward all, cultivating universal wisdom, poison, fire, and weapons cannot endanger the body.
"Completely abandoning all realms to reach the Buddha-land, not departing from all paths while establishing non-coming and non-going, the path's comings and goings always establishing great peace, therefore it is said that the bodhisattva's path has no abiding. Why is this so? The Buddha's path is empty, therefore there is no place. Because there is no abiding, knives do not approach the body, there is none who can harm—this is called attaining peace. Having attained this practice, there is neither learning nor non-learning, nor is it sought. Not attaining sages and worthies, never aspiring to it. For this reason, knives cannot harm, the body cannot be shaken. All paths follow emptiness, discerning the wisdom of emptiness, knives cannot harm.
"Using great compassion, attaining the realm of tranquility among sentient beings, reaching the realm of serenity. Vastly giving without sorrow, abandoning anger. Those who practice compassion develop bright wisdom, transforming the world with compassion, accomplishing great sorrow. Not attaining the place of persons, their compassion is complete, knives cannot wound.
"Equal to the desire realm, form realm, and formless realm, equal to the dharmadhātu, the realm of equality, the path not being manifold. Not arousing consciousness-thought, without anger, departing from frivolity, tranquil without sound. The dharmadhātu is like this, transcending all existences, the bodhisattva's practices, all that can be concentrated on. Wherever all sounds reach, the dharma has nothing to uphold, not abiding in beginning or end.
"What the multitudes pursue is merely sound, what clearly teaches and transforms, has the conception of existence and non-existence with their words. By abandoning the conception of self, transcending all sounds, surpassing equality and wrong views, attaining this teaching. Understanding all dharmas as merely sound, also not attaining dharmas, there is none who crosses over. This is called the Eightfold Equality. Never longing for or being attached to all sounds."

The path abandons without circling around, What is spoken is merely sound, Discarding all attachment to echoes— Therefore not self-deceiving.
