瑜伽師地論卷第二十六彌勒菩薩說

本地分中聲聞地第十三第二瑜伽處之一
In the Original Ground Section, this is the Śrāvaka Ground, the thirteenth, first part of the second yoga-place.
問:於如前所舉、所開示出離地中,有幾品類補特伽羅能證出離?
Question: In the previously mentioned and explained grounds of liberation (出離地), how many categories (品類) of persons (pudgala, 補特伽羅) are able to realize (證) liberation (出離)?
云何建立補特伽羅?
How is a pudgala (person) established?
云何所緣?
What is the object of cognition?
云何教授?
What is instruction?
云何學?
What is study?
云何隨順學法?
What is the practice in accordance with the methods of study?
云何瑜伽壞?
What is the breakdown of yoga (meditative practice)?

How many kinds of māra (obstructors) are there? How many types of māra-related conditions or events?
云何發趣空無有果?
What is the emergence or direction toward the fruit of emptiness and non-existence?
嗢柁南曰:
He respectfully replied, saying:
諸補特伽羅 建立、所緣、教、
As for all pudgalas (persons): their establishment, their objects, their instruction,
學、隨順學法、 壞、瑜伽、作意、
their study, the practices in accordance with the teachings, disruption, yoga, mental application,
瑜伽師、作、修、 果、門、數取趣、
the yogin, activity, cultivation, results, classifications, number of destinies,
因、魔事、無果, 是皆當廣說。
causes, māra-events, and fruitlessness — all of these are to be explained in full.
補特伽羅品類差別有二十八種。
There are twenty-eight types of distinctions among pudgalas (persons).
云何二十八?
What are the twenty-eight?
謂鈍根者、
Those of dull faculties (manda-indriya),
利根者、
Those of sharp faculties (tīkṣṇa-indriya),
貪增上者、
Those dominated by excessive greed (rāga-prādhānya),
瞋增上者、
Those dominated by excessive hatred (dveṣa-prādhānya),
癡增上者、
Those dominated by excessive delusion (moha-prādhānya),
慢增上者、
Those dominated by excessive pride (māna-prādhānya),
尋思增上者、
Those dominated by excessive discursiveness (vitarka-vicāra-prādhānya),
得平等者、
Those who attain balance (samatā-prāpta),
薄塵性者、
Those with naturally light defilements (mṛdu-kleśa-prakṛti),
行向者、
Those who are approaching the path (pratipanna-mārga),
住果者、
Those who abide in the fruit (phalastha),
隨信行者、
Those who practice through faith (śraddhānusārī),
隨法行者、
Those who practice through Dharma discernment (dharmānusārī),
信勝解者、
Those whose faith gives rise to decisive understanding (śraddhā-adhipanna-adhimukti),
見至者、
Those who arrive by seeing the truth (dṛṣṭi-prāpta),
身證者、
Those who realize directly through personal experience (kāyasākṣī),
極七返有者、
Those who will be reborn at most seven more times (saptakṛtvaḥ-pratyeka-bhava),
家家者、
Those reborn in each family (life to life) (nitya-pratyavartin or sarvatragāmin),
一間者、
Those who take one interval (before liberation) (ekabījin),
中般涅槃者、
Those who attain nirvāṇa in the intermediate state (antarā-parinirvāyin),
生般涅槃者、
Those who attain nirvāṇa at rebirth (upapatti-parinirvāyin),
無行般涅槃者、
Those who attain nirvāṇa without effort (asaṃcāraka-parinirvāyin),
有行般涅槃者、
Those who attain nirvāṇa with effort (saṃcāraka-parinirvāyin),
上流者、
Those bound for higher realms (uddhamsrotaḥ),
時解脫者、
Those who are liberated in due time (kālena-vimukta),
不動法者、
Those with the immovable Dharma (acala-dharma-prāpta),
慧解脫者、
Those liberated through wisdom (prajñāvimukta),
俱分解脫者。
Those liberated through both wisdom and meditative absorption (ubhayatobhāgavimukta).
云何瞋增上補特伽羅?
What is a hatred-dominant pudgala?
謂有補特伽羅,先餘生中,於瞋煩惱已修、已習、已多修習;
There is a pudgala who, in former lives, has cultivated, become accustomed to, and repeatedly trained in the defilement of hatred.
由是因緣,今此生中,於所憎事,有猛利瞋、有長時瞋。
Due to this condition, in this present life, regarding objects of aversion, they have intense hatred and prolonged hatred.
是名瞋增上補特伽羅。
This is called a hatred-dominant pudgala.
云何癡增上補特伽羅?
What is a delusion-dominant pudgala?
謂有補特伽羅,先餘生中,於癡煩惱已修、已習、已多修習;
There is a pudgala who, in former lives, has cultivated, become accustomed to, and repeatedly trained in the defilement of delusion.
由是因緣,今此生中,於所愚事,有猛利癡、有長時癡。
Due to this condition, in this present life, regarding matters marked by ignorance, they have intense delusion and prolonged delusion.
是名癡增上補特伽羅。
This is called a delusion-dominant pudgala.
云何慢增上補特伽羅?
What is a pride-dominant pudgala?
謂有補特伽羅,先餘生中,於慢煩惱已修、已習、已多修習;
There is a pudgala who, in former lives, has cultivated, become accustomed to, and repeatedly trained in the defilement of pride.
由是因緣,今此生中,於所慢事,有猛利慢、有長時慢。
Due to this condition, in this present life, regarding matters of arrogance, they have intense pride and prolonged pride.
是名慢增上補特伽羅。
This is called a pride-dominant pudgala.
