Chapter 24 - Gadgadasvara Bodhisattva

DESCRIPTION

This chapter begins with the Buddha (Śākyamuni) emitting light from the uṣnīṣa and the ūrṇā, illuminating Buddha worlds in the eastern direction, including a world called Vairocanaraśmipratimaṇḍitā (’Pure Light Adornment’) in which there is a Buddha named Kamaladalavimalanakṣatrarājasaṅkusumitābhijña (’Pure Flower Constellation King Wisdom’). There was a bodhisattva there named Gadgadasvara (’Wonderful Sound’) who, upon seeing the light, wishes to go to the Sahā world. He arrives and enters the jeweled stupa of Prabhūtaratna.

The Buddha then tells a bodhisattva named Padmaśrī about the past lives of Gadgadasvara, and then explains the bodhisattvas abilities of manifesting different bodies of form, having attained the sarva-rūpa-saṃdarśana samādhi (’Manifesting All Form Bodies’).
