LESSON 30 - छ / CHa

As in chanda छन्द - ‘desire’ or chavi छवि - Beauty

車字門,入諸法欲不可得故,如影五陰亦不可得故

The syllable CHA is a gateway because the desire (chanda) of all dharmas cannot be attained; like shadows, the five aggregates also cannot be attained.

Kumarajiva

入綽字門,悟一切法欲樂覆性不可得故

The syllable CHA is a gateway because one realizes that the desire (chanda) for pleasure of all dharmas cannot be attained.

Xuanzang

磋(上)字門一切法影像不可得故

The syllable CHA is a gateway because the shadowy reflections (pratibimba) of all dharmas cannot be attained.

- Amoghavajra

The syllable CHA is a door to all dharmas because glamour (chaver api)

The syllable CHA [means] all mental phenomena are openings because of the non-recognition of beauty (chavi).

And as in हेतु (hetu)

入呵字門,悟一切法因性不可得故

賀字門一切法因不可得故

HA because a root-cause (hetu)
