LESSON 21 - श्व / ŚVa

ā kā śa dhā tvī śva rī

As is śvāsa श्वास - Breath, panting (like a dog, śvan श्वन्)

[其*皮]字門,入諸法[其*皮]字不可得故。

The syllable śva is a gateway because the ‘śvā’ of all dharmas cannot be found.”

入濕縛字門,悟一切法安隱性不可得故

The syllable ś-va is a gateway, because one realizes all dharmas secure nature (kṣema?) cannot be found.

- Xuanzang

The syllable ŚVA is a doorway to all dharmas because of the non-apprehension of a principle of life (श्वास śvāsa).

- Conze

The syllable ŚVA is an opening because the ‘breath’ (श्वास śvāsa i.e. life) of all mental

phenomena is not understood.
